Toomer's Tradgedy

Today, although I don't have a photo for you all, I wanted to share with you the news of the poisoning of the 130 year old oak trees that have been part of tradition at Auburn University for years. Some redneck, too-much-free-time man drove up and dumped a ridiculous amount of toxic poison into the soil. The man called into Paul finebaum radio show and reported his doings. Finebaum did well and reported the alleged action to Auburn, who proceeded to run a soil test and find that the soil around the trees was 65% poison. The trees have little chance of survival. The man was arrested today, and hopefully will serve a long, hard term in some facility. I know this is a well known event, it just makes me so angry that I felt I should share my feelings. Happy Valentines...(/chocolate) Day!

Ahhh! Dont you just love Valentine's Day? I apologize for the gap between posts. I have NO TIME! I can hardly find time to post pictures, much less take them!

Anyhow, the closest thing to a love themed picture I could find was a chocolate store. Now if I revealed the location, I would be breaking a promise I made earlier not to post any more photographs from this location. So I suppose I just revealed the location. (Mental Note. Dont make promises online.)


Valentines Day is just one of those good days where you can shutup about all of your problems and stuff your face with chocolate. Isnt it just glorious? I cant stand it when people sit at home and complain about how they never are in a relationship during Valentines day and how it draws attention to the fact. Just take advantage of an excuse to eat chocolate when you have one. Well I suppose that was my soapbox for the day.

Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears

Well, I have just been on a role here recently, browsing through my pictures taken on our trip to NYC last year, found this one, and just couldn't help but post it. This is the main building on Ellis Island, just a short ferry ride from Manhattan. But, as many do not know, neither Lady Liberty nor Ellis Island are within the state lines of New York. Both are just yards from the state line, but technically located in New Jersey.


I do promise to post some new material soon; I know you're all tired of the Big Apple!

A Stroll Along 5th Avenue

This photograph was taken on the same occasion as the 3 or 4 I posted earlier from the Met. In fact, if I remember correctly, it was taken after we aimlessly strolled south along 5th avenue post our visit to the museum. It was just my mother, sister and I, as my father had some difficulty making it up in time....Ah, well, that's a different story entirely, which might earn me a little lecture should I share it with you all. I want to share a photo with you all of the snow/ice we had last week, or at least one during the daytime, so I might just ask one of my camera handy friends to post as a guest. I failed to get any, as I was too busy bruising myself sledding down the ice coated streets. Maybe its best there aren't any photos of that...... =D

An Icy Night

As anticipated, around 6 last night, the ice began to come down! I spent a while outside taking photos.... something about precipitaion entices my photography eye. Finally, I literally could no longer feel the controls of my camera, so I figured I best go in and thaw out.

I hope everyone in Birmingham drives safely on the ice!

From 1700's to 2010....

May of 2010 my father and I went up on a spontaneous trip to Boston, after he received an invitation to a John Hancock business conference. The only problem was that it was just too short! Anyhow, I think Boston has one of the most unique personalities out of most major cities around the country. One of my favorite things about Boston, which I've shown in the second photo from the top, is how in one picture that you can capture a church that's over 150 years old, right in front of the shiny new John Hancock skyscraper.
I'm not sure why there was a sign for a fallout shelter.... I suppose it was just left from the Cold War and never got removed. My question is is there still a fallout shelter...? Well, if we ever once again enter a nuclear stare-down with Russia, I'll know where to go. =)

A Day At The Met

All of these were taken March of 2010 on a trip to New York in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The first two were taken in the large room, or more like a hall, in which the Temple of Dendur is displayed. It's one of my personal favorites in the museum. The third was taken downstairs (or maybe it was up...?) in the contemporary art section. I found this one quite interesting how it was painted.... it can get to you if you stare at it too long, cant it?

I apologize for the lack of a post in quite a few days.... just rather crazy getting back into the school routine after a 2 week break.
